Their Breakfast Menu

Whether your keen for a hearty breakfast in the morning or would like a taste of breakfast-style food in the afternoon, the Mugg and Bean breakfast menu has you covered.

You’ll find a delicious range of different styles of eggs. Classic omelets and eggs benedict in more ways than one. Or, if you don’t like any of their standard omelets, you can custom-make your own by choosing all the ingredients you’d like.

Fill up your omelet with tomato, onion, green peppers, jalapenos, mushrooms, cheese, chicken strips, ham, or bacon – the choice is yours.

If eggs aren’t your thing, dine on one of their powerful breakfast bowls. With enough nutrients and vitamins to fuel an exhaustive day.

After something a little lighter? Grab some toast instead. Smashed Avo & Egg, Bacon & Egg, or just Eggs are a few of the different styles of toast you can at Mugg and Bean.

Best Food At Mugg & Bean

Mugg and Bean haven’t grown to where they are today without help from some fine food.

Arguably, their All-Day Breakfast menu has been the game changer for them – one of the few large restaurant chains in South Africa which have spent many years fine-tuning and perfecting their breakfast dishes.

Some of the most popular dishes on the breakfast menu include The Mugg & Bean Classic – two eggs, honey-glazed bacon, tomato, hashbrown, fries, and a slice of toast. Fantastic.

For lunch, their classic sandwiches have earned them a solid reputation for where to go when there’s no where to go. The Muffuletta sandwich consists of salami, hickory ham, mozzarella cheese, fresh olives, and red pepper vinaigrette. A sandwich to satisfy all taste buds.

Lastly – you can’t go to Mugg and Bean without sipping on one of their delicious creations from the roastery. Well, you might be able to, but you’d be missing out.

Their coffee is some of the best in the country as they source it from the best single origin beans and international blends the world has to offer. They roast the beans locally, then have their professionally trained baristas pour your coffee exactly to your tastes.

Some even arguing their coffee takes on the famous Starbucks.

Restaurant Locations

From their humble origins in Cape Town, they’ve grown to more than 220 locations across South Africa and Africa as a whole.

There’s no shortage of Mugg and Bean locations in Capetown, with around 15 restaurants ready to take your order from their menu.

It’s a similar sight in Johannesburg, with plenty of locations scattered around the city waiting for you to pop in.

In a few of the less-populated regions, you’ll find them in Port Elizabeth, Durban, Newcastle, Richard’s Bay, and Nelspruit.

About Mugg & Bean

It all started with Ben Filmalter back in the early 90s during a trip to the South Side of Chicago. He was with his wife Judi when they discovered a little coffee shop – unparalleled in their sense of generosity.

Upon returning to their home in Cape Town, he opened the first Mugg and Bean coffee shop in 1996.

The Mugg and Bean menu was one of the first in South Africa to serve bottomless coffee, along with their generous portions of food available for you to order.

Within 7 years, the fast-growing chain had grown to over 80 locations around the country. With much of its success thanks to Ben’s vision of not just building a coffee shop, but a place where people arrived as customers, and left as friends.

Unfortunately, Ben recently passed away in 2016. But his legacy will most certainly live on.

Coupled with their bottomless, delicious coffee and generous portions of food – there was nothing stopping them now.

Today, there are over 220 locations across the continent, with delicious coffee, breakfast, and lunch ready for you to dine on.

Another restaurant that has grown at a pace on par, or even faster than Mugg and Bean, is RocoMamas. The unique smash burgers on the RocoMamas menu have thousands of South Africans streaming through their doors every day.

Mugg and Bean are now owned by the Famous Brands company – which owns a few of the large restaurant chains in South Africa.
